Heist Society by Ally Carter
When Katarina Bishop was three, her parents took her on a trip to the Louvre…to case it. For her seventh birthday, Katarina and her Uncle Eddie traveled to Austria…to steal the crown jewels. When Kat turned fifteen, she planned a con of her own—scamming her way into the best boarding school in the country, determined to leave the family business behind. Unfortunately, leaving “the life” for a normal life proves harder than she’d expected.
Soon, Kat’s friend and former co-conspirator, Hale, appears out of nowhere to bring Kat back into the world she tried so hard to escape. But he has a good reason: a powerful mobster has been robbed of his priceless art collection and wants to retrieve it. Only a master thief could have pulled this job, and Kat’s father isn’t just on the suspect list, he is the list. Caught between Interpol and a far more deadly enemy, Kat’s dad needs her help.
For Kat, there is only one solution: track down the paintings and steal them back. So what if it’s a spectacularly impossible job? She’s got two weeks, a teenage crew, and hopefully just enough talent to pull off the biggest heist in her family’s history–and, with any luck, steal her life back along the way.
–Spoiler Free Book Review–
I’ve been in love with the Heist Society series for a while now, I’ve read all three books and the author Ally Carter has this way of writing that always makes me want to know what’s going to happen next because I’m so confused as to what’s going on and I just keep turning and turning the pages hoping to find my answer and soon enough I’ve read the entire book in one whole day.
The characters are so lovable and I found myself falling in love with them more and more as I turned the pages. All of Ally Carter’s characters were different from each other, yet also so similar, all of them were funny and fun. They worked as a perfect group, their friendships were outstanding. Kat is someone I could look up to, minus the whole being a thief part. But she’s so clever and smart and just overall perfect. She has flaws obviously but she’s a good person and a great leader who has to make hard decisions. Nick is awesome too, hilarious and mysterious. Hamish and Angus they’re so funny, I found myself with a huge grin on my face every time they said something. They know how to brighten up any dark situation the group is facing and makes people feel better. They’re total goofballs but are reliable when people need them. Gabrielle is so sassy and I love that about her, I wish sassy could sum up all of the things I love about her. And Simon, so geeky and lovable, he also brought humor and that’s really important because in the books the characters are always in tough situations and they always need someone who can lighten up the mood. All in all it was literally an amazing book and they get even better once you get farther in the series. I totally recommend it and I can’t wait till the next books come out, Ally Carter will always be an author I go to when I want a mystery.
Thanks for reading and I hope you add Heist Society by Ally Carter into your reading list, and any book by her really, she’s a great author.
