Top 15 Favorite Books of 2015

Top 15 Favorite Books of 2015

A list of my fifteen favorite reads of the read! I had a hard time choosing on fifteen when I’ve read so many good books this year. I had to do a ton of thinking and I still feel a bit guilty for not featuring some of the other amazing books I read this year. Anyways, the list is in no particular order, I do leave my rating though! Feel free to comment your favorites too! I hope you like my list. 🙂

My Dream Library

As I’m growing up I often find myself thinking about my future house. The furniture I’d have, the colors I’d paint my walls, the cozy fireplace I’d want in my living room, and most important of all, my dream library. I’ve always pictured my library to be a secret room like in the movies where you press a button, move a piece of furniture, and suddenly BAM, a wall parts from the rest of the walls and then there it is. My library, my books, my happiest place.

Of course, I’m also picturing floor-to-ceiling shelves filled with every book imaginable. If I had all the money in the world I would want all of the books. New books, old books, antique books, rare books, all of it.

These were all passing thoughts, nothing I ever thought that long and hard about until very recently when the auction site Invaluable.com contacted me and asked me to do a post about what my dream library would look like. The idea seemed like a lot of fun! I love browsing through used bookstores and Invaluable has so many rare books to choose from.

Here are some of the top classics I’d want in my dream library:

1 ) Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (First Edition)

I, like many other bookworms before me, absolutely fell in love with Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It was one of the first classic books I read and for that reason it will always have a special place in my heart. I cannot picture my perfect dream library without a first edition of this book on my shelf.

2 ) Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

I haven’t actually read the book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland yet, but  I fell in love with the story when I was younger and I still love it even now. I’ve seen so many wonderful editions of this book on Bookstagram, so it definitely makes my list of books I would love to have in my dream library.

3 ) Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie

Another childhood favorite of mine! What I wouldn’t give to have a really awesome first edition of this book. It would be a book lover’s and a child’s dream come true!

4 ) The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Any Antique Editions)

While I can’t say I’m a person who is absolutely in love with Shakespeare’s writing, my friend has antique copies of plays by him and they look absolutely beautiful on her shelves! I would love to have antique copies of my own someday!

5 ) Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

H19845-L84759414

Okay, so I’ve never actually read this book, but it’s mentioned in The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, which is another favorite classic of mine, so I just had to add it to the list when I found it on the site!

That’s it for my list! A huge thank you to Ryan for contacting me and asking me to be apart of this project, it was a ton of fun! There are of course a ton more classic and antique books I would love to have in my dream library, just like there are a ton of new books I want in my library right now, but these five will have to do or else I’ll be typing forever.

If you’re also looking to expand your antique book collection, or know someone who is, Invaluable is a pretty good site to look at. They have a ton of cool stuff and I think it’s worth just checking out, even if you’re not buying anything. 🙂

What does your dream library look like?

I really do have my heart set out on the secret room thing! I just have no clue how I’ll ever be able to pull it off 😉
